St. Luke's new birthing center

Meet Our New Birthing Center

By Lori Swanson, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services

It’s time to meet our newest arrival: the new St. Luke’s Birthing Center. Here’s a preview of what you’ll see in the new Birthing Center during a scheduled tour.

Spa-Like Suites

When you walk into the new birthing suites, you’ll notice the calm, soothing environment. The Birthing Center’s contemporary design brings a hotel feel to each suite’s homelike comforts. From calming colors and inviting furnishings to deep tubs and private bathrooms, each suite is designed especially for mom and family.

Premium Amenities

At St. Luke’s, it’s your birth experience, your way. Our new birthing suites have all the amenities to make this possible. First, St. Luke’s offers the St. Luke’s Birth Plan, which allows expectant moms to decide on and write down their preferences when it comes to labor and delivery. Your St. Luke’s team reviews your Birth Plan throughout the labor and delivery process. Expectant moms can create the calm environment they want using aromatherapy, music, dimming the lights and deciding who they want in the room. We also offer remote telemetry, which gives laboring moms the freedom to walk around, relax in our deep tubs or use a birthing ball. Our suites also feature a comfortable sleeping space so partners can stay nearby during labor and after baby arrives.

Specialized Services

We’re committed to helping you even after you and baby go home. We offer an AfterCare Clinic, which is a special clinic available to all moms. You can schedule an appointment or call anytime to get help from our lactation specialists. Whether you need help with breastfeeding or have other questions, we are able to provide ongoing support for anything that comes up after delivery.

A Focus on Safety

Mom and baby’s well-being is a priority to St. Luke’s. While the birthing suites are brand new, we continue to provide the same great compassionate care to every patient. We’re proud to be Baby-Friendly, and the first hospital in Minnesota to receive a National Safe Sleep Certification.
